    Gulf of La Spezia

The poetry of an enchanted sea

Also known as Golfo dei Poeti (Poets’ Gulf), it is situated at the extreme east of Liguria and takes its name from the city of Spezia, located in the centre of the gulf with the same name where there is an important commercial port.

The large cove is one of the top holiday destinations of the Ligurian coast, an excellent choice for a sailing holiday, beautiful and unique. At both ends of the gulf, lie the villages of Porto Venere and Lerici, which attract visitors from all over the world.

It’s easy to understand why this land has been loved and sung about by poets and writers such as Shelley, Byron, Petrarch and Montale who were enchanted by the villages overlooking the sea, the green hills and clear waters.

The Gulf of La Spezia can be easily discovered, through a fascinating sea route, aboard your own boat or renting one especially for the occasion. From Lerici to Portovenere there are numerous other locations that reflect the traditions and customs of what was the historic Lunigiana, an area that includes Liguria and Tuscany and takes its name from the ancient Roman city of Luni, situated at the mouth of the river Magra. Tellaro, San Terenzo, Fezzano, Le Grazie, the island Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto: enchanted and pleasant places, that offer serenity and the pleasure of slowness: ingredients for a holiday full of relaxation and good taste.
