The island of Elba is located located between the Ligurian Sea to the north, the channel of Piombino to the east, the Tyrrhenian sea to the south and the Corsican channel to the west, about 10 kilometres from the coast.
It is the third largest Italian island, and is an enchanting place where nature thrives and the sea that surrounds it is the dominant element, a richness that characterises the culture in all its aspects.
From shingle shores to steep cliffs, those who reach Elba can choose between many activities: snorkelling around the islet of Ortano or exploring wild coves between Innamorata and Calanova, reachable only by boat, visit Chiessi via windsurf, or simply sail and enjoy the clear seabed.
An island rich in history, where you can sail among some of the most beautiful beaches in the world such as Marina di Campo, Procchio, Capoliveri, Enfola, Cavoli and Fetovaia. A route that was followed even by Napoleon, who chose the island for his exile: 147 kilometres of coast in a succession of gulfs, bays and narrow inlets all different from each other.
For those who love adventure, the island of Elba offers picturesque routes in the footsteps of its prehistoric past. Many paths that climb the Monte Capanne in search of old shepherds’ houses, the Domoliti, the Stele and menhirs as in Pietra Murata and Sassi Ritti, or proto-historic tombs of Piane della Sughera.
The most famous beach on the west coast of Elba, extremely busy and not suitable for those seeking tranquility but family friendly. It offers all the services. On the eastern coast there is the enchanting Grotta Azzurra, the most famous of Elba, reachable only by boat. Cavoli gets its name from the local quarries. Remains of columns and granite works both from the Roman and Medieval eras are scattered around the resort area.
Located on the North side of the island and situated along the road that leads from Portoferraio to Le Ghiaie, following the signs for Padulella, Enfola. A pristine beach with white cliffs. You will find a beach, with rental sun beds, umbrellas, pedal boats, boats, bars and restaurants.
The residence of Napoleon, named after some windmills located near the place where the current building stands. Inside it contains some interesting memorabilia such as the island's flag with three golden bees, the key to Portoferraio given by Mayor Traditi to Napoleon and the library with over 1,000 volumes. It enjoys a splendid view of the north - east coast, Populonia and the Tuscan coast.
It is the highest peak of the island of Elba and the whole province of Livorno. Located in the western part of the island, reaching a height of 1019 metres above sea level. Its summit can be reached in just 14 minutes via a cableway from Marciana. An experience not to be missed to enjoy a breathtaking view.
The sea in Pomonte is particularly clear and clean. The crystal clear waters guard the spectacularly beautiful seabed, highly prized by fishermen and lovers of snorkeling, diving and underwater sports in general. Opposite the beaches of Quartiere and dell'Ogliera, a few dozen metres from the coast, you can see the wreck of a merchant ship, the Elviscot, which ran aground in 1972 and today is an underwater attraction.
It is a completely private structure, located in the Marina di Campo in the South-West of the Island of Elba, in the Segagnana locality. Open every day from 9am to 7pm, it is home to over 150 different species of Mediterranean marine organisms, all collected completely ethically, recovered from the "waste" of professional fishing: fish and invertebrates destined for the pot or at least to certain death.
Closed in 1981, but after major recovery operations and the restoration of many paths and trails, they are now open again to visitors and the public. It is a veritable open-air museum, which is part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park and protected by Unesco for the variety and quality of its minerals, where you can find the beautiful old iron history, flora and fauna of the wildest promontory of the island of Elba, surrounded by unspoilt nature, above the most beautiful beaches of Capoliveri.
Also known as the Tower of the Barber, it is located in Punta Ala, in the municipality of Castiglione della Pescaia, a short distance from the harbour and the modern town. It is located is on the small promontory of the same name, in the lush Mediterranean vegetation and is on three levels.
A beach with fine golden sand and natural shade of heather behind a verdant pine forest where you can enjoy a hot dish of fresh fish, a stuffed "schiaccia toscana", an ice cream or an espresso. An area also equipped with a free beach, a few metres from Punta Ala.
